Worship

So Sunday I branched out a little from my normal routine and went to Calvary Worship Center for church. It was kindof funny b/c I wasn't sure what kind of church it was and got all nervous about what I was suppose to wear and if I needed a head covering or not (just kidding on the head covering). Well, it turned out to be a real laid back, jean wearing, kindof charismatic type church with what seems like a major focus on worship. Which was really cool. They did about 30 minutes of worship songs, then some prayer worship, then some offering worship, then some more worship. They had a "musical guest" which was why I went - and he played for an hour or so. "He" being Mitch McVicker. I enjoy him live, he's got a great smile and really enjoys what he does. I have yet to see the guy wear shoes. So that in itself is slightly entertaining. One of the things that stuck with me about the morning was about how worship has many different forms and worship where you are. If God has given you talent using a hammer, worship God through building; if God has blessed you financially, worship through giving; if you are good at accounting, worship through doing accounting things...

Which I've known all that but it's good to hear it from time to time and be reminded.

Another kindof funny thing that happened at Calvary. I sat down in the "youth section" kindof and the girl next to me (Evangeline) thought I was in high school. She was very nice and introduced herself and all. Turns out she's the daughter of the frontman of One Bad Pig. She was a little embarrassed when I put that all together. Funny though.

Birth and Death

Angela had the baby last night. I went and saw them at lunch. Baby Lila is a totally precious cute little booger. So tiny, so perfect. She blows bubbles and just lays in your arms sleeping. She is a work of art. God is really creative.

James' army unit lost four men this weekend in Afganistan. He is safe for now but is always in harms way. His unit is only at 60% strenght and they are waiting for more men to arrive. They don't have the equipment they need and are bolting any old scrap of metal they find to their vehicles hoping to make them more "armored" as they don't have armored vehicles. I pray for their safety and that they will come home soon.

Birth and Death. Its all in God's hands. Nothing happens outside His plan.

Pottery Projects

a couple recent pottery projects. I love how the top went blue and purple on the pitcher. Too rad. :0) I am also happy the handle didn't fall off. ha-ha. The bottom half is dark blue - looks like its black in the picture. The big blue bowl is really fun too. Its about 14" across and raw pottery on the outside. The white bowl is also about 14-16" across and I set it on a brown platter that ended up going wacky in the kiln. It's not flat on the bottom so it tips. But hey, that gives it character, right? :0) I start my next class in September and I am way looking forward to that. And Renee and I are planning on doing a glass class of some type - glass fusing or stained glass. Either would be totally rad. Coolio.

Wedding

So Jenni and I made it to Virginia and back from visiting my family and my sister (Rachel) getting married. Everything was quite crazy but it all turned out fine. Rachel looked great. Mom recovered from baking and decorating a 60 lb cake, dad lived through driving about 500 miles down winding country roads on the wedding day, Jenni survived running out of memory in the camera during the ceremony, Jon survived all the pictures, and everyone survived the 90+ heat and having no forks at the reception. :0) Was good to be home but everything flew by and I wish I had had more time with my family. But I am sure I will return again soon.
