EXSE Studios

The glass studio I've been working at/with (I never know how to phrase that) is having a showing for a bunch of interior designers Thursday so I was down there photographing some pieces of Glendas and got her blog tweaked and ready. So if you want to check out some of her work here's the blog: http://www.gkronke.blogspot.com/

The Growth Series is what she's highlighting right now. Some really cool pieces. I am always nervous handling them but they are pretty sturdy. I've had the chance to watch her work on them and its pretty wild.

I've been working on some new jewelry pieces too that are thicker than I normally make and different shaped. One series kindof look like 80's guitars shape wise. fun. I'll try to photograph those soon so you know what I am talking about. On a different note, school is kicking my butt. bleh.

ACL

Well, didn't know if I'd ever really write about this years ACL. I'd say, overall, the music was unremarkable. Sure there were some good bands, sure I love my friends and hanging with them, sure I love eating good food after being outside in the sun all day getting dehydrated so I didn't have to use the portapotty. So, yep, there is definitely good stuff. But thinking back, it was kindof unremarkable. I think the biggest let down was Bob Dylan. I expected him to sound like a dying goat so that wasn't surprising. And I thought the music was fine. I think I just didn't expect him to act like an ass. He is definitely a weird guy. He never addressed the audience. He wouldn't let the cameras do any closeups so we didn't even know it was actually him until monday morning when the paper came out. He didn't say anything at all between songs. Sure, he can write incredible stuff but I don't think he should be out preforming anywhere. Let someone else sing his songs. You couldn't even tell what song he was singing most of the time. Even the really well known ones. It didn't look like he even wants to be on stage anymore so why is he still doing it. Why doesn't he just sit back and enjoy retirement age. He's been running around too long and I don't see much point in him touring if he doesn't want to. I still love his lyrics but was disappointed at his preformance.

I had some trouble with the crowds and heat but overall did ok. I am looking forward to seeing some smaller bands in smaller venues the next month or so. I'll be at stereovolt tonight. woohoo.

crafty

So, we all know some people say I am "crafty" - A term I really dislike. Well, if I ever start making stuff like this then you can call me "crafty"... and then please shoot me. :0)

scary thing is when I was a little kid I did have a few projects that looked like this!
The use of a glue gun, silk flowers and bark now scare me. The picture above is a "craft" -- what I do -- pottery, glass fusing, photography, etc.. is an "art" -- I am "artistic" :0)

Geneva Dancing

Here are a few "Dance" pictures of Geneva that I took a few weeks ago after a newborn shoot of Jude.I really like the lighting and mood of this one. It may be a little too "fashion magazine" for a 4 year old but I really like it. That girl can pose! Where do they learn these things?

Love the soft look of this one. AND now for the dance ones! Get ready for some movement! :0)
Love her expression and foot.

You just can't not smile with this one! Reminds me of Kristina - so much fun and spunk.
She was dancing and singing in this one I think. She sure loves being in front of the camera.

Multi-faceted Fingernails and Pumpkins

This week has been pretty busy with work and school and working on glass projects and going to see live music and hanging with friends. Yep, good stuff. I’ve been feeling not quite sick this week but not quite right either. Hopefully that will figure itself out eventually.

So the multi-faceted fingernails – I was working on grinding down the edges on a bunch of glass jewelry using a butt huge wet belt grinder and ended up giving myself multi-faceted fingernails on about half my nails. Just ground multiple little flat spots on the tops of my nails so they kindof look like pink gemstones. Which that in itself isn’t too weird but on a couple nails I ground in too far on the end of the nail too so they hurt and I had to go cut my nails really short b/c they were too jacked up to save. I am hoping the nails will grow out a little and then I can get them buffed and made pretty again. I am guessing I need to up my jewelry prices to pay for all the manicures I will require! Actually I will have to up the prices a little b/c of how many layers I am using now and how long it takes to make a piece. I should have some out of the kiln tomorrow.

And Pumpkins. Well, my birthday is Monday and Elida (co-worker) had a coupon for 2 for 1 spa treatments at Jackson Ruiz but the offer was only good today and tomorrow. So she called up and scheduled both of us to go in for a treatment at lunch. She had a facial and I had a back treatment/message as Rachel (sister) is getting married at the end of the month and the bridesmaid dress is spaghetti straps. Yikes! So now I smell like pumpkins b/c they used a pumpkin mask thing on me along with a bunch of other stuff. Was overall quite nice even though it is a little weird having someone essentially bathe you. I realized how unaccustomed I am to people touching me. Anytime she touched any lower than my shoulder I pretty much jumped/wiggled off the table. So if you see me today and I smell like pumpkins, you’ll know why.
