toothpaste

last week I noticed I was almost out of toothpaste so while at the store I picked up some more. It felt a little weird. I went down the aisle at HEB and there were a ton of different kids and none looked familiar. Well, I recognised the brands but the boxes were all different and the flavors and all. So I stood there thinking about it and realized I go through a tube of toothpaste about every 3-4 years. No wonder it felt so weird. Tonight I totally ran out of my old tube and opened the brand new shiny tube of Crest with scope in some minty flavor. It has quite a kick. So, I noticed the new tube has an expiration date of about 2 1/2 years from now. Just for fun I looked at the expiration date on my old toothpaste. Yep, it expired 6 months ago. Oppsy. I guess it doesn't REALLY matter. Being single does have a few downsides like that - expired toothpaste, expired salad dressing, expired milk sometimes, way expired spices. But it does have its upsides like I don't have to buy toilet paper very often. :0)~

little boys

Little kids are so random sometimes. The Lafferty's were over tonight and Adriaan was quite the tooter. Which he blamed on his dad which was funny it itself as it was obviously Adriaan having gas and not Will - but the most funny thing was this quote from Adriaan:

"dad tooted, don't eat it!"

where DID he get that! Funny little boy.
And I'll let Jenni tell you about the other excitement after dinner. Oh my.

today's random whatevers

  • My shoulder is bruised from shooting David's 12 gauge on Sunday. I hadn't shot a gun since I was 12.
  • I stood on my feet for 6 hours yesterday doing pottery. Was good to get back into it but I am REALLY sore. Also, half the class decided to copy me on a signature bowl I do that is a kind of wavy free form large bowl. I guess no idea is original anymore anyway, and I probably got the idea from someone else.
  • The spanish speaking guys that are doing some really loud construction right outside my door keep saying something that sounds like "fire in the hole" before shooting their nail gun every minute or so.
  • Last week I had many itouch firsts: first time to rent and download a movie and watch it on a plane, first time to check my email and respond on the itouch, first time to use the earbuds.
  • I castrated bevo on a picture I am photoshopping at work.
  • I am finished with my art history class.
  • My interface design teacher liked my Cinderella website - yes, the disney Cinderella. It had LOTS of sparkles.
  • I need a nap.

koalas?

I was talking to my brother yesterday about his new girlfriend...

me: "so what made you notice her as something special?"

daniel: "well, she wasn't concerned about a koala infestation and thought that would be pretty cool."

I swear that boy is even more random than me!

Memphis Airport Bathroom

While in Memphis I had to take a little trip to the ladies room. So I am walking and I pass this teenage guy walking and talking on a cell phone. He had really baggy pants and a hoodie on covering his head. So I didn't think much of him and continue on into the bathroom, and he follows me on in still talking on the cell phone. At first I was thinking, whoa, I am I in the right bathroom, but I am sure it said women so I continue on into the stall. He was still talking on the cell phone two stalls over. It was THEN that I realized "he" was a "she"! Oppsy. She really looked and sounded like a teenage guy. Now yes, it might be considered a little weird that I continued on with my "business" thinking a guy had followed me into the bathroom, but I am glad I didn't say anything as she was using the right bathroom afterall.

A little MO trip

just a quick little weekend update. Visiting Brenna and Garrett in Columbia, MO was SOOOO relaxing. Was great. The first few days we were fairly busy but then Sunday and monday was very low key and exactly what I needed. The whole weekend was what I needed really. I got lots of time to hang out with them individually and then a good amount of time with all 3 of us together. Friday I went to work with Brenna and then went to the Blues &Roots & BBQ festival that evening. Good stuff. I really enjoyed the band Record Collector. They were groovy. Saturday Brenna and I went out to their church retreat and spent the day there. Garrett went out there on friday. The weather was perfect and I got to have a quiet time lying out on the grass under a tree. Good stuff. That evening we went to church and the pastor guy talked about relationships - at first I thought - crap, not another relationship sermon geared towards college kids. But it was pretty good. After that Brenna and I got ice cream (frozen custard actually) and a movie (Young at heart on renee's recommendation) and had a girls night in while Garrett went off with his boys. Cute movie. Sunday we slept in and went out to eat for lunch. I had a very yummy steak and a pile of mashed potatoes the size of my head. yummm steak. Oh, and I had BBQ friday night at the festival - a pulled pork sandwich actually. Sunday we just hung out and once it cooled down a little (it got up to 80 during the day and garrett thought he might melt) we went to campus to do a little photoshoot. Was fun. Then later we went out for a game of miniature golf. There were frogs all over the course so that was interesting. One frog stopped garretts ball from rolling down a hill away from the hole which G was thankful for. And I am sure I got WestNile from the huge mosquitos. I still have bites. Well, I lost the game. The naufels are quite competitive with each other. Garrett beat B by 1 stroke. I was about 8 strokes behind them as I didn't stay on the course very well. After that B and I went to bed and Garrett went out to play video games. Boys are boys. Then Monday I slept in and then we met Brenna for lunch and walked around downtown until my flight back. Oh yea, Columbia is a ONE GATE airport! There are 3 flights that leave daily - all of them go to Memphis. You walk out to the plane and climb a ladder. The plane holds 35 people and is very loud but it was an adventure. I had a 2 hour layover in Memphis so I went to Corky's for some ribs. Nice. The meat just fell off the bone. And now I am back. So, there you have it. Was a great little trip and so nice to be and feel loved by good friends. Oh, and B and I discussed business stuff so there might be some new developments with the jewelry business and photo stuff soon. :0)

I shall leave you with a few pics.
aren't they cute? :0)
precious, eh.
Brenna and me. I am kindof short.
Garrett and I (like you need a caption on this - oh, and I am so standing on my tip-toes)
And here we are at Boone Tavern where we had a little food and beverage.

100,000

On Sept 20, 2008 me and my little camera took its 100,000th picture. Crazy I tell ya.
I'll probably have pics to post at some point but the rest of life has been happening and everything is a little swirly right now. I am escaping the bounds of TX tomorrow so that should be good. maybe I'll come back less swirly.
