Glass

The kiln has been hot lately. I believe I've fired it up 4 times in the last week. Here is some of the process and what I've been pulling out of the kiln.

Used some scrap glass as the base of a piece

Layered some new strips of clear and clear dichroic glass on it.
Dichroic won't stick to dichroic so I  have to make sure the dichroic side is pointed up.

sitting in the kiln ready for firing.

a new pink piece. Notice how it looks all light pink on the bottom layer?
well some of the pink was a "striker pink" meaning it majorly changes color in the firing.
You can also see that on two strips of the golden pebbles I put dichroic layer down accidentally,
luckily its just sitting on regular glass so it didn't cause a problem.

the kiln load Monday night. Yes, 3 pieces ran together.

these next 3 pieces are ready to be cut up into jewelry.

I whacked this one a little too hard on the table after scoring the glass to separate it
from the other two pieces.

this is the piece that started with the little round scrap dichroic blobs as the base layer.

ranunculus

I haven't done much just for fun photography lately and so when I spotted a couple bunches of ranunculus at the flower market while buying flowers for a friend I just had to get a bunch for myself. As they are my favorite flower ya know. I was trying to pick what color I wanted and the guy said to pick two and he'd just charge me for one as they would die in 3-4 days. They were already fairly open buds/flowers so I knew he was right. So I got pink AND red and ran home to photograph. I quickly discovered I had to work fast as I had no AC and was using hot lights. Poor flowers. Poor Michele. :oP  ha. It was fun even though I was sweating like crazy. The next day I did a few outdoor shots too. Here's a few from the shoot. Nothing spectacular but it was fun.
