Pantone Color of the Year

In case you haven't heard, the Pantone color of the year is Honeysuckle. A super pretty pink that I just happen to be starting a new jewelry blank that incorporates a pink very close to Honeysuckle. It also has petal pink, plum, neo-lavendar light, fuchsia, and on one end I threw in a little blue and green. The 1st firing will come out of the kiln tomorrow. I am curious how it will look as its a little different than what I've been doing. Lately I've been experimenting with different techniques just to see what will happen. :0) Also, for those that were at Chris' wedding, you may have noticed I was in a dress with a lot of pink in it. Sure the church coordinator said I looked like a watermelon, but I think she meant to say I was rocking the color of the year and was super in fashion. ha.

looks like candy, doesn't it. :0)

Monday

  • I saw that Restaurant Week has dinner at Fogo De Chao for $35 a person March 27-30 and April 3-6. Awesomeness. I am getting hungry just thinking of it! Correction: they changed the dates to April 10-13, and 17-20. Website.

  • I went to Chick-Fil-a to celebrate Truett Cathy's 90th birthday. I do love Chick-fil-a and Truett gets all the credit.

  • Michael's is having a 40% off sale on picture frames. I went to look at them Sunday and then went back yesterday to buy them. Got up to the counter with them after about 30 minutes of finding the right ones and the lady said they weren't on sale. There was a freaking sale sign right in front of the frames. Frustrating. I didn't get any as I didn't want to pay $30-$40 per frame. I'll just go to IKEA.

  • I had pretty much one goal today - Don't come home without toilet paper. Very important. I had been putting off going to the grocery store b/c I thought it might be my turn to cook for homegroup this week and as I don't cook anymore I don't have anything at the house. But I never did find out if I was cooking and I was down to about 15" of toilet paper in the house so I had to go get some.

  • My brother Daniel is trying to make Emerie (2) obey by counting when he wants her to stop doing something - but there really aren't any consequences so he'll say sternly 1...2....3 and she'll say 4,5. It's kindof funny.

  • I am super excited about everyone coming in for Chris' wedding. Yeah.

Trade As One

Another video from Trade as One. It's a video of how one of Trade as One's suppliers formerly Hagar, now StopStart, is involved with victims of human trafficking and giving them jobs, a place to live, and a start of a new life in Cambodia.

Today's random thoughts

  • Almost started the Steak Tour today but instead ate a Bacon Cheeseburger at Mesa Ranch Grill (one of my favorite steak places). The burger was very good. Toasted bun. Crisp bacon. Crispy outside. The ice tea was fabulous. The fries were so-so. The cactus-shaped cornbread awesome. Service very good. Live Music - Country Guy that did a mix of covers and originals - quite good. Hard to admit but I did know all the covers. Other diners were older, Texas-type. Its a fun little semi-hole in the wall place.
  • Lily (27 months) bowled a 105 in Wii Bowling today against Dad. She'll hit the Pro circuit by 5. :0)
  • Left my oven on all day accidentally. Was curing some glue on some jewelry. Usually I do 200 degrees for 2 hours or so and then let it sit 24 hours. Today ended up 350 degrees for 12 hours. Opps. Was a little smokey in the kitchen.
  • Fun so many people are pregnant. Congrats to Amy and Nick!
  • I am hoping to hit the glass studio tomorrow night for a little glass fun. I feel like making something pink. I know Heidi wants me to do some purple pieces. :0)
  • Before I start the Steak Tour I should probably try out a few more burger places. Wally's maybe? I know this is crazy but I don't think I like Dublin DP anymore.
  • I don't think I'll be buying a food processor anytime soon but Karina's video on making a burger grinding your own meat was cool. Ok, it wasn't HER video but she posted it.
  • Saw this video today off a blog post for Trade as One. I get overwhelmed by how infiltrated our lives are with slave-made products. I know I can't do a lot by myself but I can do something. Even little things add up. Also here's a good post from Justin Dillon on 5 THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT ACTIVISM

No Potting Tonight

Had a crazy day of running all over campus (including Pickle Research) doing the mailrun and 3 hand carries for random drug testing. Got majorly lost in the Service Building for 30 minutes, found a map that made it look like I had to climb out a 3rd floor window, scale the side of the building and enter another window to get to the office I needed to go to. Luckily the back half of the building is MUCH higher than the front so I was able to walk out the 3rd floor and find the office. Frustrating. But it was kind of an adventure too.

Then got to pottery class tonight and there was a sign that the teacher was sick and she'd reschedule. You'd think with all the technology available I would have gotten a call, email or text saying class was canceled before driving down to Lamar and Barton Springs in rush hour. Oh well. Came home and fiddled around the house. Glee was horrible tonight. The Justin Beiber show was better. Ha.

In other news I think I need to eat at a bunch of steak houses to do a review on steaks. For the sake on consistency I will only be eating filet mignon. :0)~
