medical procedures

So, I got an email today about how my health insurance now covers a colonoscopy at 100%. Exciting, eh. And who said there weren't great benefits for working at UT? :0)~ Now, I do pray I never have to use that benefit.

In other news, I think my arms are beginning to work again. My forearms and hands decided to stop working Sunday sending massive pains and itching through my arms since Sunday. No fun at all since I couldn't sleep. Large doses of Advil seem to be kindof working where I can atleast be at work and function. I missed work yesterday due to my non-functioning arms. The diagnosis seems to be inflamed muscles. Craziness.

Glass Class

I took a 4 week glass class that ended a few weeks ago. Here are the projects I did. The class was a little too basic but I did learn some stuff and enjoyed it. Classes are really expensive so I might stick to just doing the glass stuff on my own and then just take it into the studio for firings. Which is still pretty expensive. Maybe I should just buy a kiln. :0)~

this is a "napkin vase," it's about 4" tall so really not much of a vase but its fun. You could put a candle or something in it.
this is a small blue bowl, about 6" across. I like the shape and edges but some of my design around the edges disappeared in the firings.
here is a crazy colored crazy-bowl. Its a bunch of chunks of glass melted together. About 5" across. Kindof looks like an ash tray.
this one isn't on a stand yet but is a drop-ring bowl so its round on the bottom. Its made to sit on a metal stand but I haven't got one yet. Fun colors though. Looks like a party, eh.

I tried to keep my designs fairly simple as I think those look better with the projects we were doing. Some people get really crazy with designs in glass and most of the time I think it looks too gaudy. Just my opinion. :0)

Tupperware

I brought a few brownies to work in my favorite and ONLY piece of REAL Tupperware. I handed the container to a coworker so she could get a brownie and when she handed it back she commented how I must have gotten the Tupperware from my mom. Ha. Yep, sure did. I remember loving going to Tupperware parties. Yes, I was a slightly weird kid. Anyway when I went to college I asked my mom if I could take this one piece of Tupperware - its a little square one for sandwiches but I find its great for other things. She said yes. So, funny story. I had a turtle named Timmy when I was a teenager and when he died I took him, wrapped him in paper towels (or toilet paper, I don't remember), placed him in a small Tupperware container and buried him in the flowerbed. Later mom asked if I buried the turtle in her good Tupperware. She didn't seem upset. She just said something about, well, the turtle will be well preserved. Hope some kid doesn't dig it up at somepoint - it might be kindof freaky. Oh, and if you think turtles and frogs get along - they don't. Timmy ate my little peeper frogs and the frogs peeped no more. It was quite traumatic! But Timmy was a good little turtle. In the summer he'd go swimming in the kids pool out back. One summer I'd also put this really big goldfish in the pool too. The goldfish was suppose to be Timmy food but it got too big for him to eat so they co-existed. One day the fish and Timmy were swimming around the kiddie pool and mom accidently dropped a brick on the fish. It was very flat and dead after that. Luckily the fish only cost 10cents to begin with. I still wonder how mom was able to drop a brick on it. So there you have it. Tupperware, dead turtles, and flat fish.

Sixpence - New EP

Thought you guys might enjoy this. Also if you get emails from me about other albums on Noisetrade just know I am "using" you for free music. :0)~

I think I am excited Sixpence is back together - well, I am assuming its just Matt and Leigh. I have enjoyed Leigh's side and solo projects the past few years. She did some pretty cool stuff as Fauxiage and did a good solo album. And Matt did Astronaut Pushers but I never really heard their stuff. Anyway. There you have it.

A very large bug

I was cleaning out my email and found this from a co-worker from a while back.

Michele:
We have a roach the size of a Shetland pony in the cabinet under the coffee machine.
Thanks
T

I wonder if he expected me to do something about it. I know its there. Its actually been in the cabinet for atleast a couple years. It is REALLY fast so I've never really even tried to catch it. Plus its like 3 inches long and I can't kill something that big. Plus he usually doesn't bother anyone. You'd think he'd move out at some point as other than coffee there isn't any food around there. Maybe he's addicted to the caffeine.

shots. bleh.

My allergist called and told me one of the vials they had been giving me shots from since March was undiluted. My initial reaction was that I'd been getting overdosed for the last 3 months but really I'd been given just saline the past 3 months -- so I've been getting shots (that is NEEDLES in my arm everybody) and one of them contained nothing but saline. Crazy. They told me they aren't charging my insurance company for the remixed meds and the next 8 weeks of shots to get me back up to maintenance dose on that one vial but really people, don't I deserve an ice cream cone or something for getting needless shots for three months.

blogs and quotes

I am planning on having a photo blog up soon that will be more "business" so I can direct people there instead of people finding out about this blog to see recent photoshoots. I have found a few people read this blog that I didn't know did. Not a huge deal as I try to remember this is a PUBLIC blog but I have had to filter topics more now. So, I tried to get mphotodesign on blogspot but it was taken. Taken but nothing is on it. How annoying. So I might have to do wordpress. I already grabbed the name on that just in case. Give me a few more weeks and maybe I'll have something up.

I've also been working on a non-photo business name for my non-photo stuff. Right now the front runner name is VetroSole. The former front runner was EclecticOrange but some people can't spell eclectic (me included somedays) and many people mixed it up with Electric. Bummer. VetroSole means Glass Sun in Italian. Any thoughts? Ursula? Rudy? ...

Well, I'll leave you with a few recent quotes.

Me: Mason, do you enjoy your friends? (we were going to play a group game and he looked so unenthused)

Mason: I don't have the luxury of friends. (long pause then giggle) I've always wanted to say that.

Me: ok.

Another quote from a few weeks ago.

Me: You look thinner than you were a few years ago.

Guy #1: I am but I've got boobs now.

Guy #2: I need to get boobs ... uh, I mean pecs.

Craziness abounds. So, there you have it.
