The Crate
So, the crate...
After some creative use of an antique screwdriver as a crowbar and some pruning shears I was able to take apart the crate and unwrap my NEW GLASS KILN!
Here it is all set up. Many thanks to Thomas for all the help. The kiln sure isn't light!
And here's the safety equipment as I am firing it in my dining room. :0) Fear not. It's safe.
The inside of the kiln. All ready for firing. The inside is 14"x14" and 6" high. Plenty big enough for lots of fun.
Here it is firing it's first firing. Took 16 hours and ran it overnight checking on it every few hours. Just fired a few scrap pieces so nothing special. Will do a real firing soon. :0)

Wait, that's a FYRE detector. You're worried about FIRES. You should exchange that.

Ha. So that's why it was on sale. I was waiting for someone to notice that spelling. Figured it would be you, Mr. Awesome (or whatever your superhero name is.)

Yeah...and it's just claiming to watch the fyres--not actually alert you. Kidding aside, congrats on the VERY COOL purchase! I bet you're going to have tons of fun with it!

Wow. You really do have your own kiln!! It's big and blue :). The crate is cool too - you should make something creative out of it :). I guess you'll get use to the ticking. :)K
